After Action Women’s Program Appoints Leading Trauma Therapist Mindy Johnson as New Primary Clinician
After Action, AM Health Care’s mental health and addiction treatment program exclusively for first responders, proudly announces the appointment of Mindy Johnson, LMFT, CADC II, as the new Primary Therapist for its Women’s Program.
A highly respected trauma specialist with over 14 years of experience, Mindy is deeply attuned to the unique challenges faced by women in high-stress professions. Her clinical work centers on the intersection of trauma, PTSD, addiction, and early childhood adversity—areas where first responders are often underserved.
Mindy’s personal and professional life changed forever after working with 911 dispatchers and frontline responders. “It’s an incredible honor to support people who run toward danger when the rest of us run away,” said Mindy. “As a society, we owe our first responders a debt of healing and support.”
Her trauma curriculum—developed while working at a residential facility in Malibu and later refined in collaboration with renowned trauma expert Dr. Bessel van der Kolk—has helped over 1,000 individuals. This innovative program blends core trauma recovery with addiction treatment and LGBTQ+ inclusivity and will be featured in Dr. van der Kolk’s upcoming book.
Mindy is also a certified EMDR therapist and former community mental health provider who has dedicated her career to bringing trauma education and healing to underserved populations. Her compassionate, evidence-based approach will support After Action’s mission to offer world-class care for female first responders coping with the effects of trauma, addiction, and burnout.
