After Action Welcomes Sgt. (Ret.) Christopher J.A. Scallon as First Responder Liaison

After Action, a premier mental health and addiction treatment center exclusively for first responders, proudly announces the addition of Sergeant (Ret.) Christopher J.A. Scallon, MPsy, CCISM as its new First Responder Liaison.
Chris brings unmatched depth and experience to this role, having served in law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, and the military. His life has been defined by service, trauma, resilience—and ultimately, transformation.
A Life of Service, Forged in Trauma
Born in London and raised amid Colombia's war-torn streets during the height of the drug cartel crisis, Chris faced unimaginable loss early in life, he moved to Brooklyn where he became a medic, then a firefighter, and later joined the military to further his education. He served eight years, in the United States Navy as a Gunner’s Mate during which he sustained a traumatic brain injury.
From the Battlefield to the Streets of Norfolk
Determined to keep serving others, Chris became a police officer in Norfolk, VA. His career included undercover assignments with the FBI and CIA, prolonged deadly force encounters, and crisis response leadership during mass casualty events. Yet behind the accolades—including numerous awards for valor—was a man grappling with profound trauma. He survived three suicide attempts and turned to alcohol to cope before entering treatment himself.
Why He Chose After Action
Disappointed by treatment models that prioritize profit over people, Chris joined After Action after personally referring several first responders to the program—each of whom reported exceptional outcomes.
“After Action does it right,” he says. “This team truly understands what first responders need to heal, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
Chris also partners with the MEG (Make Everything Good) Foundation, which helps cover the cost of travel for first responders who need to attend out-of-state treatment.
With over 25 years in law enforcement, 8 years in the military, and firsthand experience as a trauma survivor and successful program builder, Chris embodies the mission of After Action: to provide culturally competent, trauma-informed, and life-saving care for those who serve our communities every day.
“We are incredibly honored to welcome Chris to our team,” said Arthur Mogilevski, CEO of After Action. “His story, leadership, and heart for this work inspire everything we stand for at After Action.”
