Last Updated: May 19, 2026

After Action is committed to providing a respectful, clinically appropriate, and welcoming environment for first responders and related service communities seeking behavioral health, mental health, substance use disorder, detox, and recovery support services.

After Action complies with applicable federal and state civil rights laws. We do not unlawfully discriminate, exclude people, or treat people less favorably because of race, color, national origin, primary language, age, disability, sex, religion, ancestry, ethnic group identification, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, citizenship, immigration status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy-related condition, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

This commitment applies to admissions, access to services, treatment, care coordination, discharge planning, referrals, communications, website access, facility access, and participation in our programs and activities.

After Action is a specialized program designed for first responders. Within the scope of our mission and the services we offer, we apply eligibility, clinical, safety, and program criteria consistently and in accordance with applicable law.

Free language assistance

After Action provides free language assistance services to people whose primary language is not English or who have limited English proficiency, when needed to help them access and understand our services.

Language assistance may include:

  • Qualified interpreters.
  • Translation or explanation of important written information.
  • Assistance communicating with admissions, clinical, administrative, or care team members.

You do not have to provide your own interpreter. We will not require you to use a family member, friend, coworker, supervisor, or minor child as an interpreter except in limited emergency circumstances allowed by law.

Free disability aids and communication services

After Action provides free aids, services, and reasonable modifications for people with disabilities when needed to communicate effectively and access our services.

These may include:

  • Qualified sign language interpreters.
  • Video remote interpreting, when appropriate.
  • Written information in alternate formats, such as large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, or other formats.
  • Assistance with website access, forms, admissions communications, and program-related information.
  • Reasonable modifications to policies, practices, or procedures when needed for equal access, unless doing so would fundamentally alter the program or create an undue burden under applicable law.

Gender-specific programming and placement

After Action offers gender-specific programming and facility options. We handle placement and participation respectfully and confidentially, using clinical judgment, safety considerations, privacy needs, individual circumstances, and applicable federal and California law.

If you have questions or concerns about placement, privacy, accommodations, or participation in a gender-specific program, contact us so we can discuss your needs confidentially.
